A Season of Giving
DESTIN, FLORIDA, December 12, 2019—Emerald Grande and HarborWalk Village surprised all their employees with a bicycle for each of their employees’ children.
The gift of 134 bikes was announced at the company’s annual Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 10th as the employees and their families celebrated together.
Paul H. van Leeuwen, Chief Operating Officer for HarborWalk Hospitality commented, “Our employees’ families often sacrifice so our employees can deliver great guest service in creating memories for our condominium owners and guests during the year; and we wanted to show our appreciation. We all spend a lot of time working together and consider our employees part of our extended family.”
The surprise required over three weeks of planning and preparation. The Huffy-brand bicycles were assembled, inspected and sorted by size on property over a three-day period. Ten different sizes were ordered for children ranging in age from 2 to 18 years old. A total of 59 boy and 75 girl bikes were purchased. From small pink tricycles to 26” bicycles filled an area designated as ‘Santa’s Workshop.’ Each one decorated with a big bow and a personalized gift tag featuring a child’s name.
“It was truly special to see the reactions from the families when we found out all the kids were getting bikes,” said Brandon Peterson, Revenue Manager for Emerald Grande. “My 4-year-old, Noah, hasn’t stopped talking about it.”
Children were able to visit the workshop during the holiday party to pick up their new bicycle; or choose to have the bike delivered to their home. Both the children and their parents were all appreciative of the surprise; and a good time was had by all.
